The Lost Son Returns as the Duke

Arthur’s early life is shaped by war. While hiding with his mother and sister, he tries to honor his father’s birthday by buying chicken for their meal. With only her remaining money, his mother sends him out and gives him and his sister matching necklaces, but soldiers seize him on the way back, forcing the child toward a war he is too young to fight. After being taken away, Arthur eventually returns to his village as the Duke of Mercia, carrying a concealed past and an uncertain place among the family he lost. He finds them suffering mistreatment from people around them, creating a personal struggle: remain unrecognized while learning what happened, or use his standing to seek retribution. The story centers on a missing child’s return, the gap between appearance and truth, and the consequences of revealing who he really is.
