The Hanged Girl on the Flagpole

Ava has spent ten years loving Ethan, but he turns that devotion into a public spectacle. He binds her to a flagpole as a cruel "Hanged Man" prank for his new crush Chloe, leaving her humiliated in front of the entire school. That moment shatters something in Ava, and she finally breaks free of him. She transfers to Westbridge High and cuts Ethan off completely. There, kind friends and a protective presence named Noah help her start over. Back at her old school, Ethan begins to see that Chloe manipulated him, and that Ava genuinely fears him. He tries to apologize, but Ava refuses to take him back. The district holds Ethan and Chloe accountable, and Ava smiles at last, no longer looking behind her.
